Barnes storms to victory at Southsea

Sherfield Oak’s Jon Barnes defied a blustery wind to win the Southsea Golf Club Pro-Am Tournament.

In testing conditions Barnes shot at two-under-par 67 at the Great Salterns course in Portsmouth to take victory by a single shot from Hockley’s Gary Stubbington.

Nick Redfern (HK Legendary Golf) took third place after a level par round of 69 with Steve Richardson (Lee-on-the-Solent), Ian Campbell (Brighton & Hove), Stuart Cartwright (World of Golf) and Mark Dowdell (Blacknest) sharing fourth.

Sam Holloway (Cams Hall) and his team of Brad Smith, Max Heath and Paul Revill won the pro-am with a fifteen-under-par score of 123. Second place went to Ben Cummings (Dummer) and his team of Brian Stevens, Lee Scattergood and Robert Guest. Local favourite Tim Cornick, from the Portsmouth Golf Centre, was third with his team of Ray Emery, Derek Robinson & Zak Winning.

Special Prizes were won by Ken O’Hara, Bob Ekins, Ricky Woods and David Watts.
